About the Image(s)
The city of Astoria on the mighty Columbia river was founded in 1811, which is real old for this part of the world. Lewis and Clark were here just a few years prior. The city has some wonderful architecture and is a popular destination for photographers. It has a massive bridge over four miles long; designed to let huge cargo ships pass underneath. Wikipedia tells me it's the longest truss design bridge in North America. The old cast iron fountain dates from the local centennial celebration in 1911. I played around with the composition, trying to get the bridge and the fountain together. What do you think?

This image was particularly challenging to compose. I think I would like less foreground and more bridge on the top of the image. However, I don't know what lens you used which may not have been wide enough to capture what I have suggested.   Posted: 10/05/2025 22:18:02
