The strength of this documentary photograph lies in the diagonal lines and the repeated figures. You have kept detail in the sky and, by the looks of it, it was a wet day and that helps give the flagstones some interest. To lift it into a more interesting shot it would have been nice to have a figure (adult, child, dog) looking up at the figures of pigeons sitting on the figures' heads. As it is it's an interesting record of the temple.   Posted: 07/11/2025 13:14:43
I wouldn't characterize the photo as documentary but would classify the image as fitting in the PSA category of photo travel.   Posted: 07/14/2025 00:06:20
Great architectural image, Mark. The sharp details on the temple are incredible. Your perspective draws me into the frame to enjoy the structure and all the statues. It is interesting that each statue has a different pose. Nicely composed with leading lines. Well done.   Posted: 07/14/2025 21:33:12
Mark, this is a powerful image of an intricate piece of architecture and cultural beliefs. You have chosen a good angle and got great depth of field. Is there a reason the first two carvings' feet are not in the image? With them might just add to the symmetry of the image.   Posted: 07/17/2025 08:49:00
Mark--I was surprised to learn this building is in New Jersey! The architectual details and the "chorus line" of figures are photographic catnip. I agree with Mark that perhaps including the feet of the first two statues would stregthen the composition somewhat. This is a really exciting subject and a very enjoyable image to my eye.   Posted: 07/26/2025 16:19:01
