About the Image(s)

I’d like to say this is exactly how I found Batman but I’m sure you would not believe that! It is, of course a composite but Batman and I did spend some time together in a studio where he was actually playing a piano at the time. But I had this shot of this photo booth and thought it might be amusing to see what he looked like in there. I also adapted the photos on the side of the box to suggest that this was where all comic characters or superheroes went to get their ID photos updated. Which of course is entirely plausible! Mono seems to work well for it and perhaps adds to Batman’s brooding menacing stare.

An interesting image which tells a story. I especially like the expression and side gaze of Batman!   Posted: 02/01/2025 17:28:27

Cool! Do you remember the scene in The Incredibles when they are advised against capes?   Posted: 02/03/2025 02:22:52

Hi Stephen - thanks for the comment. No,I didn't know that quote from the incredibles but as you can see Batman has been Health and Safety aware by making sure his cape doesn't get snagged in the photo booth!   Posted: 02/03/2025 09:03:18

Great image, Peter! Batman fits in nicely. The sepia tone on Batman gives him more presence. The photos of Batman coming out of the dispenser is a nice detail. You did an amazing job creating this entertaining story fitting all the pieces together perfectly. Flawless composite done well.   Posted: 02/09/2025 00:32:02

Many thanks Barbara, this was a fun image to do. It will be interesting to see how it fares in this month's club comp!   Posted: 02/09/2025 17:12:38

Peter--Sometimes your subjects crack me up! He's a great looking Batman and it makes perfect sense he would be in a photo booth. I don't know anything about creating these composite images but it sure looks like fun.   Posted: 02/13/2025 16:18:55

Great. I think you changed it slightly from the first time I saw this - he has lost an outstretched arm, which I liked. On the other hand I could be going bats!   Posted: 02/19/2025 11:20:32

Robin you're not going 'bats' ! I did change it as I felt his outstretched arm looked odd. But maybe it works both ways.   Posted: 02/19/2025 21:33:08
