Taken somewhere in Eastern Germany in 2023. Watching Beeeaters, this wagtail showed them how to pick up more greater insects.
R5, 800mm (400*2,0); Ap. 6.3, Shutterspeed 1/8000, ISO 2000.

Nice action photograph, it has quite a mouthful. I might have cropped a little off the right and left but still leaving more on the right side. Also there are some lines below the eye, is this natural? I sometimes get these when I over sharpen. Posted: 07/03/2026 19:34:31

This is a perfect photo of the wagtail with its prey. For me, only the limited amount of space above the head is distracting. Posted: 07/08/2026 14:48:42
The thing that got me into photography was photographing dragonfly and damselflies so this image hurts my heart a little bit... I would like to see the birds eye a little more in focus; probably stopping down the aperture a little would have let everything be in the zone of focus. No other complaints though, that's a great image! Posted: 07/10/2026 12:43:16
