About the Image(s)
The bird is a grey heron. The camera body was a Canon 7D markII, the lens Cenon EF 70-200L IS II USM. ISO 3200, 200 mm, f/3,5 T
1/80 sec. The photo is made with the help of two spotlight reflectors in the evening in Bence's hide.In Lightroom I modified the white balance to daylight, auto toned, done some white clipping, darkened the light so it is reflecting on the water surface. Added some texture and vibrance, denoised with AI and done some sharpening, plus edge masking. Then in Photoshop I adjusted levels, resized the picture and in Topaz Sharpen AI adjusted sharpness.

Stunning. If I would be a judge, this one will be rated for Gold! Darkness behind, the shape of the bird, the golden water - perfect! Congrats, Ernoe!

Thank you Peter! I tried to make best of the opportunities granted by Bence"s hide. Not every jury member approves of the fact that only the interplay of darkness and backlight is highlighted in the picture.   Posted: 12/07/2025 09:26:48
I don't know, if you treated the picture in a way, "Nature" will recommend. If it is so, try to apply this one for GDT yearly challenge! But read their rules first; they are a little bit stronger than Nature!   Posted: 12/08/2025 00:37:38
Stunning is a perfect word for this image - the backlight and rim glow with the sparkling water droplets are absolutely boffo - your title isn't too bad either :-) - NICE JOB   Posted: 12/06/2025 18:43:28
Thank you Butch, your opinion is greatly appreciated.   Posted: 12/07/2025 09:28:47
I will add my congratulations to a fantastic shot. I will also add to the comments above that your crop is great. I know a lot of comments are oreinted towards competitions, but I feel that tends to drive photographers to a stereotype image. Follow the rules, yes, second guess the judges/jury not so much.   Posted: 12/07/2025 21:58:17
