About the Image(s)

The birds are great cormorants. I made it in Bence's hide in dawn with a help of two spotlight. The Camera body wase a Canon EOS 7D MkII the lens Canon EF
70-200/2,8 L IS USM II. ISO 1600, 200 mm, f/4,0 1650 sec. In Lightromm I made crop, corrected white balance, white clipping, converted in to black and white, made black and white mix. Added texture made denoise, sharpness and edge maskink. With radial gradient on the water darkened lights. In Photoshop corrected levels, resized picture, in topaz Sharpen AI corrected sharpness.

Great shot, I evny your access to water level blinds! You may consider removing the light spots in the water and two lines on the left side of the photo.   Posted: 10/10/2025 18:43:24

Thank you Roy, in the hide we sit under the water level. The left lines are water drops in movement due to the long shutter speed.   Posted: 10/12/2025 07:51:36

Rim glow is a VERY effective way of composing wildlife images so kudos, it's hats off to you. You said you had the help of two spotlights but you didn't say how you used them, that would have been helpful. I think this shot had real drama so I tried to emphasize it by cropping in tighter and eliminating all the spectral highlights that pull the eye away from the subjects - nice job   Posted: 10/10/2025 20:10:57

Thank you Butch. The two spotlights were above and behind the birds. And they lit up the same area. They could be turned on from inside the hide.   Posted: 10/12/2025 07:58:03

For some reason sometimes when I comment and then re-open, what I wrote is gone - I think I'll start making my comments in WORD and then copy/paste - what I wrote that disappeared was I felt the tighter simpler composition ESPECIALLY with that fantastic mist was absolutely boffo! Great job Doc!   Posted: 10/11/2025 04:18:45

Many thanks Butch. I tried to use the opportunities that the hide provided as best as I could.   Posted: 10/12/2025 08:05:13
