Butch, I like cranes. This species I have only seen in a bird park here in Germany. What a great occasion to take them wildlife. Wonderful picture! If you do not need it for nature competitions - what do you think if you blur the background behind the cranes?   Posted: 05/03/2025 23:47:31
I'll try it - no, not for competition. I think it's a pleasant image but not one of high impact, which is what I look for, and that usually means dramatic light, this light is fine, but not dramatic - anyway, we have company so tomorrow I'll blur the background and see what it looks like, you should do it too - thank you Peter   Posted: 05/04/2025 03:27:43
Great photo. Look forward to compare Peter's sugestion. Too bad the sun was not providing more light to the eyes. All to often for me the sun is not right, bird in on the back of the tree etc, etc,!   Posted: 05/05/2025 18:18:10
What a lovely parade of elegant Sandhill Cranes!! The third one with its foot in step gives them motion! The background softened a little could be nice.   Posted: 05/08/2025 22:43:59

Thank you Butch for showing these wonderful birds. Birdwatchers found one in Hungary last winter on the Great Plain among gray cranes.   Posted: 05/11/2025 09:11:24
Thanks Doc, but it appears Kearney Nebraska is the place to view these in March - I heard there were 750,000 last year.
