Morning Lift-Off by Kathleen Sewell

April 2025 - Morning Lift-Off

About the Image(s)

I recently went to Ottawa to photograph Snowy Owls. It was great fun! This image was taken early morning and I enjoyed seeing the Snowy's graceful lift-off and its elegant wings spread wide open.

Focal length ~ 325mm
Shutter Speed ~ 1/2500
IS0 ~ 4000

Cropped image, raised contrast and texture, used LR to denoise.

Kathleen, this is just elegant, what a lovely capture - since we read left to right I flipped it LR and would like your opinion as to whether flipped makes it easier for the eye to go thru the frame   Posted: 04/08/2025 15:56:25

Thank you Butch! I could not see your flipped image, so I tried it in Lightroom. I like it both ways! Reading left to right, in the first image we are following the flight, and in the second, the gaze of the owl's eyes. :)   Posted: 04/10/2025 23:31:23

What a great photo! I think you could crop this photo a dozen ways and have a lots of wonderful perspectives.   Posted: 04/20/2025 18:11:28
