About the Image(s)
This photo was taken with a Sony A1, 200-600 f5.6-6.3 lens with 1.4 TX (It was fully zoomed in at 840mm). 1/2500th, f/9, ISO 2000. In processing, I cropped the image, reduced the highlights, then masked the subject and increased contrast, whites and saturation. It was then edited in Topaz Photo with denoise and sharpening.

I'm amazed at how sharp you got this using 840mm - NICE JOB! Were you on a tripod? The strength of this image is in it's detail and reflection - on the flip side, I wish the water droplets were a bit sharper but at a distance that required 840mm I think you needed more than f9. In my VF I cropped in and did my best to darken the distracting greenery in front of the subject by reducing highlights and adding a vignette   Posted: 03/05/2025 19:17:46
The bird was at quite a distance from me and I got about 10 shots. It was handheld. I agree with both comments about the busyness of the background. Thank you for your suggestions. f9 is wide open with my lens and extender. I hesitated to go to f11 because I would have to up the ISO to 3200. But I think I could still have gotten this shot at 1/2000th, given the distance of the bird from me.   Posted: 03/09/2025 14:40:46
A beautiful lift off and mirrored reflection! The Ringneck looks right at home in its natural environment!   Posted: 03/10/2025 16:23:52
Very good action photo with the reflection, and the water drops. The next time you have to, choose a lighter, more homogeneous background.   Posted: 03/16/2025 06:12:15
Incredible the sharpness. On top, the mirroe of the flying duck. I like these action photos! Well done!   Posted: 03/26/2025 11:36:55
You caught this at the exact right moment to get the great reflection, liftoff and the trailing water. I like the background - it is the natural background but enough bokeh to not distract from the bird. Well done.   Posted: 03/27/2025 15:26:26
