Wow, what a spoon! Very good photo, Roy! The background is authentic, so the gras doesn't disturb the object! Very sharp and clear eye and the spoon comes towards the viewer. Good job!   Posted: 02/28/2025 21:18:47

Congratulations Roy! Thank you for uploading this Roseate Spoonbill in its habitat. In Europe spoonbills are not nearly this colorful.   Posted: 03/01/2025 15:15:16

Roy - you captured a great portrait of a Roseate Spoonbill; while I have some nice spoonbill shots, I don't recall capturing the clarity and sharpness you did - kudos. That said, I'm reviewing as a photo club judge might. In a PSA nature competition the environment can be critical, but because this is a portrait I edited it that way and I thought #1 should be to increase the exposure to really show it off :-)   Posted: 03/05/2025 19:25:10

Butch, I agree with your assessment. However I have taken many Spoonbill pics where the background was "dirty". Most times Spoonbill are in a body of water or in trees. So,getting this guy in the Palms was new for me and I thought helped frame the shot. Thanks for your comments.   Posted: 03/08/2025 15:08:40

I have a few spoonbill shots too, but have never gotten the face, eye and texture of the bill like this. Great image.   Posted: 03/09/2025 14:24:06

What a fun peek-a-boo shot of the Roseate Spoonbill! I might lower the highlights in the grass coming down from the base of its beak. Beautiful texture in its feathers, especially the soft light pink feathers under its neck!   Posted: 03/10/2025 16:54:57

One of my favorite birds, but it's hard to find them without their beaks in the water. The detail is great and sharp. I love the little pink feathers on his/her neck. I've never seen those before. Nice capture.   Posted: 03/27/2025 15:13:12
