About the Image(s)
I took a trip with our photo club to Merritt Island Wildlife Refuge. This osprey was fishing and hovering all around me so I took a lot of photos. This was one of my favorites.. It was taken at 1/4000 sec f/11 at 521 mm.

Julia, such a lovely shot of an osprey in flight, that I really wanted it to pop more. So, in my VF, I enlarged and sharpened in Topaz AI as I thought the image a tad soft. Then I ran it thru the Nik Suite Color Efex Pro and added contrast, which added texture the subject's wings and brought out some variations in the sky and finally cropped in to a 5x7 format. I hope you like my modifications.   Posted: 02/06/2025 16:48:32
Julia, great photograph. I have liked Butch's suggestions this round so much; I might ask him to be part of my postproduction workflow!   Posted: 02/07/2025 21:08:43
Beautiful shot Julia. I like that you left more space towards the gaze of the bird. I agree with Butch with regards to the sharpness, but the sky in my calibrated monitor begins to acquire a purple hue.   Posted: 02/09/2025 09:37:37
I agree that the image is just a bit soft, but I would be very happy to catch that beautiful image of the osprey hunting! :)   Posted: 02/10/2025 16:50:47
Julia, I'm impressed! Shooting birds towards the open sky will often darken the object. Your photo brings enough light under the wings and show a blue sky to. Technical perfection! You have placed the object well, you can the birds eye and the sharpness is perfect! Good job!
