About the Image(s)
This is a very common bird in this area - a double crested cormorant, but I especially liked this one. I liked the detail in his feathers and his pose as he dried his feathers, but I especially liked the grasses in the background.

Phantastic, Julia! Sharp shot, good color, well placed and a good background. I'm shooting birds very often and I know for sure, that it is very difficult to get the background into a fine bokeh. The grass behind is a little bit disturbing - but don't care, this is a high class nature photo!   Posted: 01/02/2025 02:53:05

Great composition. In shots like this I sometimes select the eye and add a little exposure and contrast. I am sure not to zoom in while doing this to get the right effect. I studied the grass some and I feel your presentation is best.   Posted: 01/04/2025 16:09:04

A terrific cormorant shot Julia and well-placed in the frame, although in my VF I did re-crop slightly while eliminating the grasses from around the subject's head area - I also lightened the wings and backside while adding 'a touch' of saturation to the subject's bill - nice job.   Posted: 01/07/2025 15:41:08

A nice cormorant shot Julia. I agree with Butch crop version.   Posted: 01/07/2025 16:41:45

Julia, this is an excellent image of a cormorant. The body and the wings have excellent sharpness and detail. I am afraid that the head and neck are at the limit of your selective focus and are slightly soft. The background is just beautiful. I think I like Butch's tighter crop the best. Very well done.   Posted: 01/11/2025 18:47:53

Beautiful image Julia!! The cormorant looks so serene with outstretched wings and steady gaze. The curved branch and soft grass perfectly suit the contemplative scene. I might raise the exposure just a bit.   Posted: 01/11/2025 23:52:37
