About the Image(s)

The birds are great cormorants, they fight for the fish, before sunrise. This picture is made with the help of two theater spotlight, in Bence Mate's hide.
Camera body Canon EOS 7D mark II.Lens: Canon EF 70-200/f2,8 L IS USM. ISO:3200, 135 mm, f.:4,5 T: 1/40 sec. In Lightromm I made crop, converted to B&W, corrected with Black and White mix, adding contrast, texture, denoise with AI.
In Photoshop corrected levels, pcture size, in Topaz Sharpen AI, I make sharpness correction.

I wish for everyone Happy New Year and Good Lights!

First class cormorants too, Barsi! Congrats. A very good shot - I bet, you've been diving somehow? Ha!. The perspective is perfect. Did you tried it to bring the picture in a low-key?   Posted: 01/02/2025 02:56:50

Thank you Peter! The hide is an underwater construction, you can sitting under the water level. The one-way glass begins slightly above the water level, and you can use this fantastic perspective.
unfortunately, the light from above reflects strongly on the water, and it's not possible to make a totally low-key picture.
In other hide of Bence I tried to make it.   Posted: 01/07/2025 17:24:36

Very unusual and interesting shot. I aways struggle with getting a black and white wildlife shots and this one is great. The lighting and rain are really good. I learned a lot looking up "Bence Mate's hide" (https://bencemateshides.com/) If there was one close I would surely visit.   Posted: 01/04/2025 15:54:44

Highly recommended, you can learn a lot about nature photography here.
In the nite, we don't see colors, only a little blue on the water. The picture is looks better in black and white.   Posted: 01/07/2025 17:31:39

In real estate it's "Location, location, location" and in photography it's "All about the light" and between the moody light and your absolute dynamite perspective all I can say is WOW! Just terrific Doc, just terrific!   Posted: 01/07/2025 15:03:13

What a creative image Dr. Ernoe!! I love the sharp, fine back-lighting around the cormorants and their intense connection over the desired 'treat'! The streaks of rain coming down and soft foreground are lovely. Thank you for sharing a technique I have not seen, with theater spotlights and a special hide.   Posted: 01/12/2025 23:28:47

Thank you Kathleen, the hide was created thanks to Bence's brilliant idea. The hide is on the underwater level. The spotlights are above the reeds.   Posted: 01/15/2025 10:45:46

Excellent image Dr. Barsi. Definitely caught it at the peak of action. Also love the monochrome. The Bence Mate's Hides were outstanding and extremely well thought out. I use an ugly canvas blind but no way it works remotely as well as these Hides. Thank you.   Posted: 01/15/2025 02:12:05

Thank you Tom. Many a hard day's work went into creating and maintaining the hides. In addition, the birds are to be fed with fishes all the time in order to ensure the continuous visits.   Posted: 01/15/2025 12:05:23
