About the Image(s)
Shot with a Canon 5D MkIII 24-105mm at 105mm at 1/125 sec at f 11 with ISO of 200.
One of the iconic images in the Jackson, WY area. A community of Mormon families established ranches in this area beginning is 1890. This one of their houses. Usually, the barns are used as the focus point. Abandoned now, the National Park Service is involved in the buildings preservation as part of the Grand Teton National Park. The NPS has a souvenir truck planted just as you enter the area. I guess the beauty of the area wasn’t enough to attract visitors.

Fantastic image! I would brighten the shadows.   Posted: 07/04/2025 21:11:30
Hi Bruce,
Super image! You might consider enhancing the visible detail in the 2 exposed facades of the home . . . specifically in the shadow areas.   Posted: 07/04/2025 23:13:45

Hi Bruce. Though I've visited Grand Teton a couple of times, I never made it to Mormon row. There was always so much else to see. It is nice to see there are other image opportunities beyond the classic Moulton barn.
You've made a very nice image. It does feel a little bit tight, particularly in front of the house. Was there a reason you didn't go a little wider on the zoom?   Posted: 07/12/2025 19:30:47

Thank you all. I did enhance the shadows, but to little avail. The dark logs did lighten when I did and this is the result. At one point the logs no longer looked real when lightened. This then is a compromise.
As to a wider shot, the surrounding area did not lend itself to making the scene more interesting.   Posted: 07/13/2025 18:14:54

Nice image Bruce, though I would echo what Robert said about it feeling tight. I'd probably repeat a bit about what I mentioned about Pinaki's image. I'd want to highlight the epicness, if that is a word, if the surroundings. I might also step back to make the building smaller in relation to the mountains. I think the shadow detail is fine, the blacks aren't crushed as far as I can tell. The clouds make a nice point of interest as well. I might consider a black and white conversion using a virtual red filter to darken the blue in the sky. That having all been said, a really nice image. :)   Posted: 07/25/2025 20:06:03
I have been to this place photographing this weel known shot in early morning. This image is good but too much contrast for my taste. The grass on the mountain seems to lack clarity. The photo is nicely balanced. The snow isn't blown out, and the cabin retains detail in its wooden texture. The difference in clarity and contrast between foreground and back seems to me a little too high. The slightly low angle gives the mountains a towering presence, reinforcing their dominance in the landscape.
For this image I will definitely shoot at 105mm would go for a wider choice.
Great Photo.   Posted: 07/27/2025 23:18:32
