About the Image(s)

This image was taken form a train somewhere between Portland Oregon and Chicago IL.
It was cropped from a much larger image, and not as sharp as I hoped it would be.

Camera; Canon Powershot SX720HS.

Hi Kenneth. Happy New Year! The low resolution of the your image this month gives it a very painterly look - not that that is a bad thing. I like the warm colors and though it is low resolution it does not look "blurry" - the detail is crisp enough for a very beautiful painting like effect.

I don't know whether you did this or not, but one suggestion I'd make when cropping heavily is to try the new super resolution enhancement in Lightroom. It is able to increase the pixel count 2X in each direction (4X overall). And it's built into LR now. I do think there is still better software for blowing things up - like Topaz Gigapixel. But depending on the image, LR can do a pretty good job.

The one other suggestion I'd make, a small one, is to clone or crop out the "red" item that is sitting on the left edge. It is colorful and bright enough that it draws my eye to the edge. Otherwise, very nice image.

Hello Kenneth,

Happy New Year!
I agree with Robert's comments. While I don't know what you have cropped out from the original image, it is the kind of scene useful for playing with Photoshop's relatively new Generative Artifical Intelligence feature of "Outpainting". . . where you can use the crop tool to expand the scene and let Photoshop provide you with optional added contexts without any prompts or with text prompts. The thing is that once you do that, it is arguably no longer a photograph, but rather a mixed media piece.

Thanks Robert and Rick for the feedback. Happy and fruitful New Year to all!
I've had multiple problems with Photoshop Lightroom that wasn't resolved by their Helpdesk, so I use Photoshop Elements, limited and no AI, but it has work arounds.   Posted: 01/14/2025 03:50:18

Hi Kenneth,
Happy new year!
Thank you for sharing.
I like the tone of the image. It looks like a painting((Impressionism). Or the very old color photo. I like it very much.?My preference is to have a bit of space in left side. But still it works good. Well done.   Posted: 01/16/2025 09:16:20
