This was a morning flyfishing, in Gauteng in the winter.
I had no camera gear with me except my phone. So there is no fancy camera’s, tripods, or lenses or fancy editing here.
It was just one of those mornings where I just had to try and capture the mood and then get back to fishing.
If I remember correctly, it was the morning I caught and landed my first trout. So good memories of the day.

It is amazing and a little unnerving how far phone cameras have come. I like the photo it is amazing with the mist. I didn't see the two people in the image until I studied it then they popped out. Posted: 08/12/2026 18:42:56
I think this is a great mood evocing photo. With this, and all your other shots, I can see why you have so many photo honors included in your bio.
I like the composition with the relatively symmetrical presentation, the soft lighting along with the mist, the sun still filtered behind the trees and the reflection on the water. It draws my eye into the photo and I was delighted to see the inclusion of the two fishermen in the background.
I'm wondering if it would help to crop a bit in from the left to remove the tree on that side so you would have a little space from the edge to the next tree in.

Really well balanced shot Francois. Read through the comments and I like the tree on the left as I feel it frames it a bit. The mist is lovely here, To me, this looks a bit dark and the tint off a bit. Hope you don't mind, but here's my interpretation of this image.
