About the Image(s)

Going back into my archives again. I submitted a version of this photo to the group in March 2020. This time I worked with one of the other images I shot at the time as I wanted to eliminate the line of old pilings on the left as I thought they were distracting. This time around I think showing the masts at the top of the image add interest, what do you think - should I crop down a bit from the top?

In post processing I played with the color balance and color contrast a bit to make the colors more vibrant and I did a bit of sharpening. I wanted to see what this would look like in mono so I included that version, I'd like your opinion on that.

I took the shot on an overcast day with my Canon R, RF24-105 lens at 70mm; aperture f/20; shutter at 1/125; and ISO 400.

You can see my 2020 posting on the PSA website at https://psaphotoworldwide.org/page/education - where it is highlighting "Mentors and Consultants"

I like the masts at the top, it adds interest and draws the eye up. I also prefer the colored version, has more visual interest.   Posted: 07/06/2026 11:18:22

Hi Ed. I actually like this one. It brings this structure to the viewer and it is very clear what you are showing us. I might be inclined to chop off more at the top. Just below the crows nest on the right. So you are keeping the mountain tops all in. This just to put focus 100% on the building. There are still enough masts left to carry the harbour narrative   Posted: 07/06/2026 14:24:10
