Beautiful location. So many colors and shades from nature.

I can't figure out where the light is coming from. Did you use off camera flash?   Posted: 11/11/2024 01:34:39

Just normal afternoon light. Lots of nooks and crannies that have different lighting conditions.   Posted: 11/11/2024 01:47:19

George, your photo is wonderful...but your narration is sorely lacking!!! Which camera...which lens...Tripod...shutter speed...is this a blend of images? How many? Inquiring minds want to know!   Posted: 11/13/2024 16:36:29

Fair comment Paul, sorry about that. This has been a stressful month.

This is a past-peak fall shot from Ricketts Glen State Park in Pennsylvania. The park is famous for it's many waterfalls. Unfortunately we were a good bit past prime fall colors and the drought that has hit the east coast resulted in very mediocre flow on all the falls.

Single image. Sony a7rv, 16-35mm/4 @ 16mm, f22, 60s exposure, ISO 100. Shot on tripod, with some kind of ND filter if I recall correctly (maybe 6 stop?).

Love this image, lighting is lovely, composition is well balanced, and great choice of 60 second exposure.

All subjective of course and nits. To me, the bottom left is a bit too dark, I'd like to see a bit more of the shadows there. I also think the middle tree is a bit too bright.   Posted: 11/17/2024 20:15:14

I like the composition a lot in the way that you have the two parts of the stream coming down and into the pool. In my opinion it provides good symmetry and, for me, nice balance to the image. I think the colors work well together and I appreciate the sharp focus and depth of field. The apparent slow shutter speed does a nice job of smoothing out the water which I think is a plus.

I agree with Dawn in that I think the lighting on the tree in the back gives it a bit too much exposure while I think the the sides, and especially the lower corners could use more exposure.
