About the Image(s)

About the image: Taken this winter in the Skagit Valley , Northwest Washington state. Each winter thousands of snow geese arrive and winter in this awesome area. It is a haven for them plus eagle, short eared owls , swans and other birds. I cropped the image added some exposure noise reduction and small amount of sharpening. Wow ... Delightful capture of bird in flight especially a prominently white one. Great detail in the feathers on body and wings. I really like how you processed the background for it makes the bird stand out in a very pleasant way.   Posted: 09/03/2023 08:18:49

Yes wow. I love the wing position, so graceful looking, and not obscuring the head of the bird.
What I really like though is catching the V of the mountain in just the right spot in the background. It sets this apart from a plain sky background image, gives it a little more character and interest.
Lovely job on the post processing too.   Posted: 09/08/2023 17:42:40

Nice job of cropping, giving the bird 'room' to head toward the left. Maybe a bit of halo hugging the legs a result of post processing? Subtle blue coloration. Overall soft box lighting.   Posted: 09/10/2023 05:35:42

Bruce, this is a lovely image - very clear what it is doing and good detail on the feathers. Love the wing position and you made a good (and interesting) decision in your crop.   Posted: 09/11/2023 03:24:13

Bruce, perfect catch of this Snow Goose at the precise moment of an abrupt stop or landing. Nice tonality and detail of always hard to get white birds. Sharpness in critical areas. Well done.   Posted: 09/13/2023 10:19:03

Hi Bruce, a fine job capturing this Snow Goose. Your timing was perfect with the mountains to the left and mountains to the right and cropped just enough to get the second goose out of there. Seems like your settings were just right too with very little to edit. You got beautiful detail in the feathers and the wings up high coming in for a landing. Beautiful job Bruce.
