Plenty of flaws, of course, but I thought I would have fun playing around with the original image, retrieved from Adobe Bridge. This involved opening in Camera Raw and adjusting various sliders like saturation, clarity, hue, brightness and most of all exposure. After opening up into Photoshop my main difficulty was moving one bird over and removing the other distracting elements. I was hoping to portray the contrast between the straight, harsh lines of the tiles with the organic appearance of the buzzards. Maybe not so great a result, but I liked the challenge, By the way, this all came about because I happened across dozens of buzzards working on some road kill (a rather large alligator, in fact) and the birds pictured here were perched on a nearby apartment waiting their turn in the food line.

The birds are overly bright though- the original image is much more the true colors of these birds. It's a real challenge with black feathers, finding that balance between detail and looking natural. Posted: 08/16/2026 17:52:40

This image is a good exercise for improving your Photoshop skills while also improving the image itself. I agree with Adrian that perhaps you don't need such a large roof, as it doesn't add much to the image.
I really like the variety of poses of the birds, and the central one is the one that engages the viewer the most. You did well placing the bird closer to the others, as it improves the composition. However, I think you need to make a better selection around that bird or blend the colours a little more carefully, as I can see a difference in the blue tones around it.
