About the image: Taken near Ellensburg, Washington. Each spring many western and mountain bluebirds gather here to nest in boxes placed by the local Audubon society. Canon R-3/Canon 800 5.6/ Canon 1.4 /TC F8/1/700/ISO 4000.

Great pose, great capture. This guy is showing a bit of an "Angry Birds" attitude with its mouth wide open and even a look of intensity in its eye. Good zigzag line with the stump and the bird. Bruce - great capture! Your positioning of him within the frame really helps. Perfectly sharp with a perfect blue tone background. Lovely.

Lovely portrait with the soft, muted colors. The weathered stump makes a good perch. But that wide open beak "angry bird" pose really makes the shot. Nice work. Posted: 07/10/2026 22:56:32
