About the Image(s)
The Snowy Egrets at my local park are pretty habituated and as long as you stay relatively quiet they sometimes come quite close. My lens wasn’t a zoom, so this was all I could get in the frame! Nikon Z8, 600mm, 1/2000 f/9 ISO400. This was done with my typical full-Manual exposure, having done test shots to insure not blowing the whites as I photographed the birds actively fishing. I was a bit under exposed so brought it up in post and used structure to help bring out detail in the white feathers.

Very well exposed -- the detail in the feathers is not too hot. The white of the bird's body sits nicely against the pale blue of the background, making this an elegant final image. The yellow and black of the eye and bill adds a kind of accent as a final touch. Well done!   Posted: 07/07/2026 14:07:26
