About the Image(s)
About the image: Taken near Ellensburg, Washington. The Yakima Audubon has placed more than 100 nesting boxes along a road with lots of habitat for bluebirds. This mountain bluebird was fluffing it’s feather to keep warm on this chilly morning. It is one of my favorite images and often picked by friends as a favorite as well. About the image: There are both mountain bluebirds and Western bluebirds in this area and the lighter color on the mountain variety make it my choice to photograph if possible. Canon 1D mk III/Canon 400 2.8 F 5/6/ 1/1250/ISO 1000 I cropped this image then adjusted exposure up a bit, added just a bit of texture and dodged the whites a bit.

Angela, Thanks for your comment, I appreciate you taking the time. Interestingly, My granddaughter texted me and said that she had found it posted by someone on Twitter and called it the Twitter Bird. I looked and found it on seven different sites where someone had used it. I have over one millions files and this is one of my favorite ones. Bruce   Posted: 07/06/2025 21:05:16

Hi, such a colorful bird with expression, I have never seen earlier. Background is bearing smooth effect. The wooden stand is also visually effective.
Thanks for sharing such a picture.   Posted: 07/07/2025 18:27:05

It looks like it escaped from an 'Angry Birds' video game. Face perfectly captured, great background, great base for it to stand on and fine color balance. Perhaps crop down from the top just a smidge? Great work!   Posted: 07/13/2025 15:16:59

Hi Bruce,
Great image of this bluebird, the pose and expression are priceless, and the blurred background frames it perfectly. It's my first time seeing this bird, and it's truly unique. In Australia, we have blue wrens, but this one is even more beautiful!

It is a great "moment" capture ... need to get it to a marketing firm for it reminds of the famous "mad bluebird" photo of many years ago I still see on coffee cups, plaques, mouse pads, etc.. I suspect it made millions for someone.   Posted: 07/20/2025 18:56:40

Bruce - another cute colourful bird - well captured and as you say 'with attitude'! Good detail, nice background - all perfect. Thank you for sharing   Posted: 07/25/2025 18:08:34

I can see why this is a favorite, there's much to like about this little "Angry Bird". The colors are beautiful, the blue really pops against the background. The bird's pose and attitude make it more interesting than a more sedate pose would be. Great image.   Posted: 07/25/2025 20:39:21
