Thrush Surprise by Steve Cole

May 2025 - Thrush Surprise

About the Image(s)

Last Saturday while I was sitting in my backyard making photographs of a Raccoon across the ravine high in a tree nest which was last occupied by an Eastern Screech Owl (1224 submission), this Brown Thrust popped out of the brush for a few seconds checking out the squirrel feeder droppings. I have had them each year I lived here (28 years) but never was able to get a somewhat clean/clear photo of one until now. It was a truly delightful surprise. Fujifilm XT5, 100-400 lens at 400mm (FF600mm), f5.6, 1/125, ISO 1250. Processed in Lightroom Classic basic sliders and Topaz Denoise.

Good work with the presentation of the bird, and in particular the eye. It seems that there may be too much of blue color balance, although I can see that it is in the shade.   Posted: 05/11/2025 14:48:40
