About the Image(s)

Taken several years back at Wakodahatchee Wetlands near Palm Beach, Fl. Exposure, white balance, etc required only a little tweaking, but most time was spent on carefully selecting out the bird, inverting and then blurring out the background and removing the strong vertical branch. Taken with my Nikon D500 with 70-300 mm lens set at maximum zoom (plus 1.5 crop factor) at around 1/2000 sec. Sharpened in On1 Perfect Effects 8.

Jerry, this is a lovely portrait of an interesting bird. I've seen quite a few, but never as cleanly as this, including the feet. Your swap and branch removal enhances the end result, which shows lovely detail. Good PP.   Posted: 04/18/2025 11:47:40

Jerry ... Nice capture. Great end results. More patience in processing than I for sure. Thanks for sharing your initial image and how you got the final presentation.   Posted: 04/18/2025 12:35:41

The bird gave you a nice pose with the raised head and open bill. The light gave you rich detail in all those black feathers, which doesn't always happen.
Flipping the image was a good choice, it "reads" much better in this direction. Nice work on the other cleanup too.   Posted: 04/19/2025 23:33:17
