About the Image(s)

Date of exposure: 11-01-2023, 12:25 HRS Subject: A BRAHMINY KITE IN FLIGHT CAMERA: Nikon D7200 with Tamron 100-400mm lens
Lens: f-stop f/7.1, Focal Length: 185 mm, exposure time 1/2500 sec, ISO 500, pattern metering, Manual mode. LOCATION: Brahminy kites are found in the state of Odisha, India. This Kite is an attractive bird, with chestnut plumage except for the white head and breast and black wing tips. The juveniles are browner, but can be distinguished from both the resident and migratory races of Black Kite in Asia by the paler appearance, shorter wings and rounded tail. EDITING: I used PS CS 2024 to edit the frame, by a desktop computer. I used adobe camera raw 16.4 filters to enhance clarity, shadow details, brightness and exposure. I also used Topaz software to reduce digital noise and to sharpen details.

Sanat, as usual you present a subject not usually seen in the USA, It is nice to see the variety of animals around the world. Bruce   Posted: 03/12/2025 12:18:24

Nice exposure, especially under the wings, which sometimes is too dark to bring out. Color balance is great. Perhaps the bird is being given too much space -- cropping in might be an improvement in that there is too much negative space which is not helping the composition.   Posted: 03/13/2025 11:34:00

Sunat - this is perfectly captured! Pin sharp. You did well increasing the canvas from the original, to that the final image has plenty of sky to fly into.

I would reduce the sky width behind the bird by as much as a half, then you judge how much sky feels right (you many not need quite as much). I also suggest lightening the shadows of the bird slightly, to bring out a bit more detail, while leaving it as a believable amount of shadow.

Lovely bird in flight image!   Posted: 03/21/2025 18:29:51
