Nice timing to capture the tern coming up with its fish, and the wings and tail completely open. I like what you've done to bring back some color in the image.
Compositionally, the bird is too centered. I see there is a little bit of water drops trailing behind, but for my eye it isn't interesting enough to need so much space. My suggestion is to crop the left, about half of the space. This will still leave the water trail but put the bird on the left side with room to fly in to.

Sanat ... really nice capture (feather detail, eye, food are all sharp) of bird in flight with food. I too agree perhaps a bit of a crop off left would grab the eye a bit plus I would attempt to lighten up the background a bit for it appears to my old eyes a bit too dark.   Posted: 02/11/2025 16:36:34

Following up on Cindy's and Steve's points, I agree that there is too much negative space on the left, and that this does not add enough to the overall image. But, you did capture the action well and the wing positions are perfect. The feathers and eye are nice and sharp. Good color balance. The water acts as a great background and sets the subject off well. Not much noise considering your high ISO level. Good effort!   Posted: 02/15/2025 18:24:23

Sanat, I agree with the others regarding the crop, for me the negative space on the left does not add interest to the photo and puts the bird directly in the middle with little space to move into across the frame. I have included an alternative crop for your consideration. Bruce   Posted: 02/19/2025 23:38:25

You captured this gull very well Sunday and I like much of your PP. certainly the bird does not need to be central in the image and should have more in front than behind - how much so is always a personal preference. I personally would have a bit more all around than Bruce's version (but as said these are personal preferences). Cindy mentioned water drops - I like to emphasise these through selecting the area with drops and adding Clarity - then increasing shadows if the darker background has been darkened by the clarity then using the S Curve just lifting the light side - all to make the water drops stand out to add to the story.   Posted: 02/21/2025 22:56:01
