About the Image(s)
Was hoping for a sunset over pinnacle mountain state part - but had to settle for a peaceful shot of the two rivers. I did get a few shots with small motorboats, but didn’t like the result as much as the open water.

Brian,
I like your use of the sunset reflection on on the placid waters to create a leading line. The crop brought the distant mountain into focus. I'd be tempted to delete the lane guides, but that's your call.   Posted: 07/16/2024 19:29:18

Brian, chasing the light is always a challenge! I think this image would best be served by making it a square crop and losing a lot of the bottom portion, positioning the sun in the middle, placing the lane guides along the left third, and having the tallest mountain peak at the intersection of the top and right thirds in both Rule of Thirds and Golden Ratio. There's a nice sense of DOF.   Posted: 07/21/2024 16:07:11

Thanks for the comments. I didn't begin with this composition in mind (the sun was to set over the mountain peak - but the clouds rolled in). I really like the square composition idea though.   Posted: 07/21/2024 19:18:54

Brian:
This is a beautiful image. For me, I like the Portrait composition vs. Square, as it accentuates the depth and distance of the scene. The lane guides aren't needed, but they don't distract. Be grateful that the clouds rolled in.

Hi Brian, the picture is truly beautiful and perfectly captures the moment at sunset. I noticed the cropping in this photo; you effectively draw the viewer's attention with how you cropped and zoomed in on the mountain range in the background-very skillful. I really appreciate photos that require minimal post-processing to retain the natural colors. Well done. Thanks.   Posted: 07/24/2024 19:26:11
