About the Image(s)

Fall’s morning fog in rural Waupaca County added a mystical veil over the rolling hills. I drove along Iola’s back roads looking for a composition that would capture the serenity of the countryside and the flavor of the season. The red barn stood prominently; its vintage charm enhanced by the soft light diffused through the mist. Nearby, a modern hunting stand marked the edge of the woodland, adding an interesting contrast to the scene. The fog, barn, and hunting stand weren't just subjects; they were storytellers of a cultural tradition that stretched over decades. Tech stuff: f/9, 1/50 sec., ISO 100, 166mm focal length, pattern metering. Processed RAW via LR then used PS and Topaz Studio for adjustments. The challenge was to keep the fog while bringing out the brilliance of the foliage. Though the light was darker that morning, I opted for a lighter, brighter version.

Trey, you accomplished your goal of keeping the colors and lightness while not losing the fog. Indeed this image tells a story while it shares the beauty of the heartland. I hope people in your area are aware of the splendid work you do.   Posted: 07/08/2024 20:52:52

I really enjoy the colors on this one. I also like the crop you settled on. At first, I kept thinking the wooden posts/gates would have added to the composition - and might have. However those plastic stand offs (I'm assuming for an electric fence) are a bit distracting - your crop eliminates this issue. I really like this one.   Posted: 07/21/2024 19:25:06

Trey:

Once again you're at the right place at the right time in that beautiful heartland you call home. Your original image would have stood alone as a great landscape, but your enhancing the light without losing the fog puts it over the top..

Hi Trey, I really like the way you capture countryside scenes. The colors and composition are carefully set up during shooting. However, I think that after editing, the photo has become too bright and the colors seem unnatural. Thanks.   Posted: 07/24/2024 19:09:35
