About the Image(s)

I took this picture when visiting Anchorage, Alaska, and hiking the Exit Glacier Trailhead in Kenai Fjords National Park. I stood at the nearest viewpoint of Exit Glacier, where it allowed me to see the scenery up close. Exit Glacier is located in Kenai Fjords National Park, near Seward, Alaska, approximately 120 miles south of Anchorage. It is one of the most accessible glaciers in the state, offering visitors a chance to experience an active glacier up close. The weather in Alaska was very warm (80°F) at this time; I wish there had been more snow. I edited the photo with ACR and PS, increasing contrast, dehazing, and sharpening. Metadata attached.

The Exit Glacier is an index of environmental tragedy. How much it has retreated and melted in the last 50 years is sorrowful. It is good that you captured what remains. What you did in post processing made it come more alive. The telephoto focal length compressed the image nicely.   Posted: 07/16/2024 19:36:05

Quang, I agree with Charles, your image is well-composed and processed. The rocky slopes lead the eye into the glacier which you have added texture to. My only suggestion is to remove the dust spot almost at the top center. I also like the crop you shot the image in. Well done!   Posted: 07/21/2024 16:22:51

This glacier was a whole lot larger when we visited a few years ago, and its loss is everyones' loss. Your beautiful image is the essence of Alaska. I like the vibrant colors of the sky and the land framing the glacier, and the way you have captured the colors and textures of the ice. This is a beautifully balanced image. Nice work.
