A couple of years ago my wife and I took an 11-day cruise up the coast of Alaska. One evening while relaxing in our room, I noticed a pretty sunset out our balcony window, so I captured this image. The original was a Raw image, so I converted it to Black and White with Silver Efex and made some adjustments in Adobe Camera Raw. I used several masking tools and had to get rid of a Halo across the top of the mountains. The clouds are original. Sunset when the image was captured was near midnight.
Image captured with my Nikon Z with a 28mm lens. ISO was 100 at f/11 @1/125sec shutter speed.

Don, I like the choice of going to black & white. The sky is lovely. If you wish, opening up a few details in the shadows might add another dimension to this transportive image. Posted: 07/06/2026 20:22:38
