About the Image(s)
Spring arrives with an abundance of blossoms??”blooming and fading so quickly that my busy schedule couldn’t quite align with the peak cherry blossom season in Washington, DC.
This image highlights one of the capital’s most iconic symbols, the Washington Monument. From nearly any angle, the monument offers compelling compositional opportunities, especially when framed by natural elements.
For this photograph, I chose magnolia blossoms in the foreground to convey the delicate fragrance and quiet elegance of early spring. Their presence adds both depth and a soft visual narrative to the scene.
I carried a 24??“105mm lens while walking along the Tidal Basin??”a versatile choice that allowed me to adapt quickly to changing perspectives. While other lenses might offer different creative possibilities, this focal range provided the balance I needed for both landscape and detail.
In post-processing, I used Adobe Camera Raw to refine color tones and enhance vibrancy, ensuring the image feels fresh and alive. I also utilized ACR tools to remove distracting elements, keeping the composition clean and focused on the subject.
