About the Image(s)

I spent a morning in the San Francisco Financial District in search of some cool buildings. I found an image that was sort of a skyline shot. I decided to crop-in and came up with this. In Nik Color Efex Pro, I brought out some pastel colors. I used Adobe Camera Raw to straighten the buildings and used Topaz DeNoise to help with some of the grain.

The image was captured with my Nikon with a 28-150mm lens shot at 85mm. Camera settings were ISO 100 F/11 @ 1/125sec shutter speed.

This is a charming shot. I like how you brought out the colors a little, without excess. Your crop is perfect, focusing on the contrasting shapes and angles of the buildings.
Although this is very good as you have it in color, you might also try and see how it comes out in monochrome.   Posted: 12/11/2025 21:32:52

Hey Stephen. Thank you for your comments. I grew up shooting mainly black and white and in this case, I thought the colors were too interesting to pass up. I did do a Black and White version to show you how I would have done it. Thanks again for the comments.   Posted: 12/12/2025 03:09:37

Don, excellent cropping. You rendered a very fetching abstract pattern. I like the colored version, but can see the purity in Stephen's B&W.   Posted: 12/17/2025 23:46:08
