About the Image(s)
A while back, I visited Preston Castle in Ione California. This very spooky Castle, built in 1894, was the first Juvenile Detention Center in California. Before this, Juveniles were housed in San Quentin Prison; not a great place for kids. The Castle, located in the California Goldrush region of Northern California, has been undergoing renovations for years. During my visit, the electricity was shut off for repairs, so I wandered around by myself for two hours in very low light.
This image was of the living quarters for some of the inmates. The impressive thing about the room is the wood floors, which I decided not to crop too much. The light coming in the windows is pretty much the way the rooms are lit during the day.
The image was captured with my Nikon with a 15mm lens. ISO 640, F-5.6 @ 1/30 sec shutter speed. Editing was done in Adobe Camera Raw, Photoshop, and Nik Color Efex Pro.
