About the Image(s)

Description: For this image I was on a ferry to an island off the shore of RI, I saw many seagulls swooping down to the water, extending their talons to catch their prey. It was very fascinating how accurate they were. Since I had my Camera with me, I decided to try and see what prey they were catching. I eventually got this image, and it seemed to look like some kind of shrimp, crawfish, or crayfish.
Metadata: I used my Canon EOS Rebel T5, with a Canon EF 75-300mm lens. ISO: 200, 250mm, ’5.6, 1/800s
Post-Editing Process: My post editing process for this photo was quite simple, I used Adobe Lightroom to Darken the exposure of the image, along with using the de-haze tool. I selected the seagull as a subject and slightly sharpened it, along with giving it a bit more warmth.

Great shot. My only suggestion would be to reduce the overall size so that the bird is a bit more prominent with all that water   Posted: 01/16/2025 16:08:20

Noah, it is hard to capture birds in flight let alone ones during feeding. I agree with Bev that cropping draws more attention to the gull. I also like the suggestion of placing the gull a bit more to the left of center, which reinforces the expected flight path of the bird. Your tweaking of contrast is spot on. Thanks for sharing. I'm looking forward to other photos you will share.   Posted: 01/16/2025 19:20:21

Noah:

A great capture. I like your image. As a former Rhode Islander I can relate to it. Moving the bird to a left-of-center position would enhance it, but I would not crop it; the bird & the water are nicely balanced.
