About the Image(s)
Certainly, another grand place to do landscape photography is in Zion National Park. This is a photo
taken in November 2017 of one of the Park’s many horse trails. To render the final image, I fiddled with
the contrast overall and within parts of the photo, used the dodge tool to accent the highlights, opened
up the shadows, monkeyed with color mixture to increase saturation particularly of yellows and
oranges, replaced the boring sky, then finally, used Topaz to decrease noise. Camera numbers: Nikon
750, f/10, 16mm, 1/20, ISO=125.

Hi Charles. Merry Christmas. You have definitely succeeded in leading us along the trail up into the mountains. You have done a superb edit in bringing out colour and contrast plus interest to the sky. With the secondary leading line of the trees on the left it may be worth experimenting with the golds, yellows and greens to punch up their hues and make them "pop" more. I would also suggest experimenting with lightening the shadows on the left hand peaks rock faces. Cheers Brian   Posted: 12/14/2024 02:59:15

Charles,
My wife and I just returned from Zion last month -what an amazing place! (Our first time.)
I agree with Brian that working with the shadows on the left would help the image. However, I also know that the sun at Zion is really harsh and getting this image where you have it now was a chore - good job!
I did experiment and had some success with bracketing to open up the shadows more.
Love the composition and everything Brian said on the leading lines.
