About the Image(s)
This image was seen at an office park where I went searching for.....images like this. Apes began climbing on this obelisk while banging on sticks but I had to run away and did not get a photo of them.
1/1250s, ISO 100, f/8.0
40mm Nikon f/2.0 lens for Z-mount.. Cheap lens, weighs nothing, images are nice and sharp!

LOL about the apes :-)
It is a very thought-provoking image. I like the juxtaposition of the organic forms of the clouds with the rigid lines of the man-made structures. It's a very ambiguous picture. To me, this symbolizes the conflict between nature/freedom versus rigid societal habits and expectations.   Posted: 10/05/2026 18:42:12

OMG SUCH a lovely analysis and all I could come up with was apes.

Another great monochrome image . . . they always make me think - typically leaving me unable to completely understand what i'm looking at - yet they hold my interest. I like the range of tones, so many lines/right angles and great sky - adding a softer texture of the upper part of the scene. Minor question - there is small black vertical streak/smudge just to the right of center - was that in the original or is that an artifact? Were you deliberate in choosing to leave it in? For me - it interrupts the monotony of the structure (which I like) and therefore I'd be inclined to remove it. Thoughts?   Posted: 10/05/2026 21:41:57
Ooooh you devil you! I thought about that smudge. It's real, probably some dirt. I could have easily cloned it out, given the repeating patterns from which to clone, but I thought maybe leaving it there makes it more real and less 2001. Dunno. Let's vote!   Posted: 10/05/2026 21:50:18
You seem to find the most interesting images in office parks! I like the added op-art type distortion that runs just a bit crookedly through the very rigidly level layers.
I think I would have cloned out the smudge, although I can understand your rationale. I just finished reading The Hail Mary Project, a sci-fi yarn about alien microscopic organisms threatening our sun, and I had a flash about seeing that "organism" on a microscope slide!   Posted: 10/05/2026 22:34:19

Jennifer I am glad you read that book. So much better than the movie!   Posted: 10/05/2026 23:20:54
I liked the book so much I was thinking of seeing the movie = not worth it?   Posted: 10/06/2026 02:06:44
I did like the movie but was glad I read the book first. If you are a scifi fan do see it.   Posted: 10/06/2026 14:14:56
