About the Image(s)
My camera club had an opportunity to photograph the final dress rehearsal of Eureka Day. The play is about a mumps outbreak at a small private school. This image captures the President of the School Board, as he mediates dialogue between pro and anti-vax parents. Although the play was written a decade ago, the subject remains timely.
Canon R5, 24-105 f4 lens at 76mm. ISO 1250, f4.5, 1/125 sec.
Crop and minor edits in LR.

I love this action/emotion shot. Well-captured and the feeling immediately strikes you without ambiguity. On my monitor, it looks a tad pink, maybe needing color balance adjusted even though that might be the stage lighting.   Posted: 10/03/2026 15:33:28
Thank Will - I think you are right that the color balance is off . . . not sure what I did to mess that up. I don't think it was the lighting.
Anyway - with Canan's suggestion below - I went back into LR, to the white balance eye dropper and clicked on the large white paper on the background - and got this. One click!   Posted: 10/05/2026 21:29:17

I like the fact that you chose to use a slow shutter speed here. It goes along very well with the facial expression and really gives a good sense of action. A static picture would not have been able to convey this sense of frustration as well. I agree with Chan about the pink--the white paper in the background has a pinkish tinge. Maybe if you use Curves & set that as a white point, it can help fix the white balance issue.   Posted: 10/05/2026 18:47:48
. . . see my comment to Will above. I didn't even use curves (they still scare me!) - just the eyedropper in LR.   Posted: 10/05/2026 21:30:26
Yes, the revision looks much more natural. I love Curves--it's a really powerful tool.   Posted: 10/05/2026 21:52:43
You really caught the emotion! It is frustrating to have to fight the same battles over and over. The slow shutter is perfect, and the white balance adjustment made a big difference in the mood.   Posted: 10/05/2026 22:14:14
The light color editing touch helped to balance out the colors. The background matches this months theme : hot air balloons. if you blurr the background a bit, may help to bring more focus in on the subject. Even with the low quality files shared on here. zooming its tack sharp around the subject. The details in the chain for the glasses is clear. Good job on getting the focus points right on the large as well as the small details   Posted: 10/06/2026 11:33:15
