About the Image(s)
During a visit to Barcelona, I traveled to Montserrat to see the Monastery. It has a gorgeous Chapel. Hundreds of years ago they moved the space for parishioners to light candles to a series of tunnels approaching the entrance. They did this due to the number of people lighting candles crowding the Chapel entrance and concern that soot rising from thousands of candles was discoloring the artwork.
I took the original JPEG with my iPhone 14 (the only camera I traveled with!) and edited it in LR. I am amazed at LR's performance - few years ago this would have required Ps; not today!

Steven, the image is beautiful, and the adjustments in Lr bring out the depth of the colors or the candles and the glow on the wall. It is lovely. You said you worked with the original jpeg-I try to shoot in RAW when I use my phone. It takes more work on the front end to get the images imported. Do you use RAW on your phone?   Posted: 07/01/2026 21:59:33
Thanks Cindy. My iPhone 14 pro does have 48MP RAW capability that I've played with. In my hands and for my photography, I haven't found that it makes much difference. I've shot the same scene 48mp RAW and 12mp JPEG; can't see a difference. I rarely print - and that's where it might matter; especially for detailed landscapes, etc. printed large. Theoretically it would help with cropping. But as you say - the files produced are larger, harder to share with others, and upload to the cloud while traveling. Also - no setting changes the very small size of the iPhone sensor or the number of pixels used to capture the image. The 12 vs. 48 mp is all about how the processor combines/handles data captured. Unsure if this is a real benefit or Apple marketing. Interested in other thoughts?   Posted: 07/12/2026 12:35:39
This has a very good composition, and the colors and textures are very appealing.   Posted: 07/02/2026 18:21:01
Very beautiful, Steven! Your cropping and removal of the person, and your enhancement of the golden glow, as well as the proximity to the texture and light drop-off on the wall, really conveys the feeling of being in a tunnel.
