About the Image(s)

I don’t remember the name of this bridge, but it was in Switzerland.

Such a lovely covered bridge! My first guess would have been Japan, but Switzerland makes perfect sense. I love that people are visible crossing the bridge. The shift in focus is interesting - the flowers that are in sharp focus lets the viewer know what the flowers on the bridge itself look like, yet the overall feeling is dreamy and a little mysterious. I definitely get the feeling of someplace far away.   Posted: 12/04/2024 16:49:44

Cindy, you are presenting another very fine image. I understand your desire to show as much of the bridge as possible, but it is also clear to me that the large group of flowers is your main subject. If this is correct, I feel that your best use of space would be to give the subject more of the space and take space away from the bridge. The bridge is useful in showing the environment where the main subject resides, but that can be done while still giving the subject more space on the canvas. I suggest the following crop.   Posted: 12/06/2024 21:49:07

Nice image - I like the blurred background. I wonder what this would look like if the bridge was sharp - and the foreground flowers blurred. You likely need to go back to Switzerland to do that :) Chan raises an interesting question - what is the primary subject? I suppose you decided it was the foreground flowers - because you chose to make them sharp. I think Chan's crop is a bit tight - I like seeing more of the bridge - which I think is more interesting than the flowers.   Posted: 12/07/2024 20:29:47

I actually think I tried it both ways-making the bridge sharp and having more of the bridge in the image. I was trying different ways.   Posted: 12/07/2024 22:31:10

I like this the way it is, with the sharp focus in the foreground. Very pretty and well-balanced.   Posted: 12/08/2024 01:10:14

Very nice image! Very nice composition with the foreground being sharp and detailed with a shallow DOF background. The people on the bridge adds to the story line. Very well done!   Posted: 12/09/2024 00:24:40
