December 2024 - Sydney in November

About the Image(s)

Sydney in November seems to be under a spell, and the whole city is immersed in a romantic purple ocean - this is the season when jacarandas are in full bloom. When the spring breeze blows, the flowers of jacarandas are as light as clouds, blooming on both sides of the streets, in parks, and even in courtyards. The jacaranda trees seem to weave a purple sky curtain, against the clear blue sky and the sparkling sea surface under the sun. I use Iphone 12 to took the video, and adobe Pr to edited it.

Hi Helen,
This was such a fantastic video-so soothing and visually stunning! The location and overall vibe were absolutely beautiful. I really enjoyed watching it.

I have two quick suggestions:
1. When the text appeared, I think it might have looked even better if the font size was slightly smaller and the color matched the tone of the video more closely. It could have added a nice, cohesive touch.
2. The video felt like a perfectly crafted B-roll, almost like the stage was set, but the "actor" hadn't arrived yet. Adding a subject in some shots could make it feel even more dynamic and complete.

Of course, these are just my thoughts as someone who's still pretty new to this. I'm really looking forward to learning more from you and everyone else here!

Hi Helen,

I would like to comment on Boskee's critique. Boskee suggested using smaller font size and a color to match the video. I agree and disagree. For an opening Text depicting the title or description of the video, a larger font is good. I do believe that she is correct about the color, but not in this case, the font was changing colors like a rainbow, depicting the beauty that was to come in your video.

Helen,

The beginning drone scenes of your video were beautifully done but as you paned with the drone it became jerky. This could have been corrected in post production by using the stabilizer effect.

Because I live in the northern climate of the USA, I had never seen or heard of the Jacarandas tree before. They are very beautiful. My guess is that many people may recognize them and many may not, so that is where subtitles or voice over would really have helped a lot. Just a short description, maybe something from Wikipedia would have helped.

Well Done !!

Dick

Hi Dick:
Thanks for your comments. I searched it from ChatGPT. Jacaranda (scientific name: Jacaranda mimosifolia) is an ornamental plant native to South America, mainly originating from tropical and subtropical regions of Brazil and Argentina. It belongs to the genus Jacaranda in the Bignoniaceae family and is a deciduous tree known for its bright purple-blue flowers.

This plant was introduced to other parts of the world in the 19th century. Due to its beautiful appearance and strong adaptability, it is now widely distributed in Africa, Asia, Australia and other tropical and subtropical regions in the Americas. Especially in urban greening and garden design, Jacaranda is very popular. For example, the seasonal sea of ????Jacaranda flowers in South Africa, Australia and other places has become a famous landscape.

The name of Jacaranda comes from its flower color, and its Latin name "Jacaranda" comes from the indigenous Guarani language of South America, which means "fragrant" or "fragrant wood"
Since the video was produced in such a rush, the post-production was not good enough.

Hi Helen,

Your video beautifully captures the bloom season in Sydney, with joyful music that perfectly sets the mood. The creative use of various camera movements goes beyond the basics, adding depth and interest to each shot. The trees and flowers swaying in the breeze bring a delightful sense of motion to the scenes. To elevate it further, consider increasing the FPS during shooting to smooth out any choppy or jerky footage. Overall, it's a lovely and inspiring work-well done!

Note: I wrote my comments before reading those of others, so I'll share my initial thoughts as they came to me.
