About the Image(s)
The photo was taken in Sequoia National Park late in October of last year. We had hoped to shoot in Mineral King that day but we could not get up the road due to construction. We chose neighboring Sequoia instead and were delighted to find the area bathed in heavy fog. We shot for several hours in nature’s best lightbox perfect for monochrome effects. The fog was very dense at ground level but thinning above letting a beautiful diffused light cover our subjects. Spec : Sony A1 with Tamron 50/400mm lens at 63mm, 1/250, f/5.0, ISO 200.
The photo captured in color and converted to monochrome using Nik Silver Efex 9.

Indeed mystery. The high contrasts adds much to the composition. The trees are creating a leading line to the horizon. Very well done. You may want to consider removing the edge of the tree on the right hand side.

Butch Mazzuca here from DD groups 29 - 67 - 73 - 97 - My eye was drawn into the frame and the fog - excellent - then on the way back the bright log in the bottom center of the frame grabbed my eye and held it.   Posted: 10/07/2026 22:44:41
Interesting photo! So many leading lines that take you all the way through the photo. I especially like the log at the bottom that is so bright. It holds you in the photo.   Posted: 10/09/2026 16:58:32
