December 2024 - Dismal Swamp

About the Image(s)

I wanted to visit the Palace for some time and finally I had the chance last month. Interesting - yes but not so much. Only 4 trees and one access point on a pier. So I came early in the morning, went in the water, set up the tripod and tried making lemonade from the lemons.

The edit is more than my usual but still mostly darkening the skies and that's about it. I removed a bench sticking up from the water and brightened an area on the water.

This is a beautiful image, Adi.
The highlights radiating around the base of the tree enhance the alternating light / dark pattern between sky and water.
The brush on the right provides balance.
Very nice!   Posted: 12/09/2024 04:28:50

Adi, the right-side plant-growth, indeed, balances the work as Elsie notes.

Soft and Lucious are the words I feel describe the scene. Well done!   Posted: 12/09/2024 20:21:30

Adi, I'm a sucker for lone trees and your image really grabbed me. Good choice on the long exposure. Beautiful dark tones and the dramatic sky provides an intriguing backdrop that helps draw attention to the tree.

I often have a contrary opinion about a lot of things and in this case I have to say that I find the brush clump on the right distracting. It draws my eye away from the beautiful tree.

Brush clump or not, it is a beautiful image.   Posted: 12/18/2024 00:58:24

Adi - Sobering image in as much as it makes me think about increasing water levels. Ironically, I will be using this theme in my picture next month. Technically, you did a great job of balancing the brightness of the sky (but not too much) with the gloomy water.   Posted: 12/19/2024 15:57:24

Great photo, I really like the horizontal lines of the light catching ripples making a triangle with the tree positioned perfectly in the midd.e   Posted: 12/21/2024 21:22:23
