About the Image(s)
One afternoon during my recent trip to the Banff area in Canada, a group of us went on an afternoon hike aiming for a sunset photo opportunity at a no-name pond. Unfortunately, the weather did not play in our favor; it was a pretty gloomy day. However, I still appreciated the scenery and the rock texture formations. I walked around and found a long tree clasped into the water, and I thought I might use it as a foreground element in my composition.
Technical: Sony A7C, Sony 14mm. HDR with three exposures to bring out some details in the sky. Post-processed in Adobe Lightroom.

Don, another outstanding composition, expertly processed. I really appreciate your eye for composition. The fallen tree on the left forms a strong leading line to the mountain peak. The image has strong triangular elements, bold contrast and beautiful detail. The HDR treatment works beautifully here. I would hang a big print of this on my wall!   Posted: 12/02/2024 15:23:57

This is an impactful image, Don. Thank you for sharing.
The fallen tree leads my eye across the water to the opposite bank and serves as an excellent foreground element. Good choice!
One observation is there seems to be slight hallowing on the upper left portion of the mountain.   Posted: 12/09/2024 04:55:05

the picture is as good as it gets in landscape photography.
I have 1 suggestion: a bit more black in the edit.

Don - I really like the sun exploding behind the peak. Your HDR work was fabulous. As a "minimalist" photographer, I'm wondering if the branches at the bottom right are distracting from the overall theme since they are not really leading lines and disrupt the overall mirror of the peak in the water. But clearly it's just me...   Posted: 12/19/2024 16:02:46
