A tree In The Water by Adi Ben-Senior

November 2024 - A tree In The Water

About the Image(s)

A few weeks ago I visited Harper's Ferry in northern VA. While wondering about it I came across this tree stump and thought
"This is a Lance type of photo", so I gave it a click.

Then I thought "well what's the point of photographing it if I wont post it?"

So here it is. Dedicated to you.

Nikon Z71 24-120mm f4 @f22; S 6"; ISO-31 ; Tripod

Hi Adi. Yes, another "Lewinesque" image. As usual, your composition is spot-on. Beautiful textures and tones. Curious about the reflection: At f/22, I would have expected it to be sharper than it appears. Not a criticism, just a wondering. Well done.   Posted: 11/06/2024 23:17:44

The reflection is lovely.
The leaves at the very top of the tree draw my eye away a bit, though.   Posted: 11/07/2024 22:45:50

I need the leaves at the top not to have three too close to the edge of the frame.

Oh, gee!!! Thank you, Adi!!

Yup .. must admit ... this is a scene that would have caught my eye.

Here, a simple and often overlooked subject recorded and presented with engaging beauty! I love it, Adi!! : )   Posted: 11/12/2024 11:47:18

Adi - Just like Michael, I was thinking about this picture being inspired by Lance's way of seeing things. I love how the sun is lighting the tree trunk. Did you bring out those highlights in post-processing or captured them in camera. Then again, why am I asking: magicians never tell!   Posted: 11/27/2024 15:53:55

I spot measured and over expo +1/3EV from the trunk the a bit of vignetting in the edit.
I do tell everything :)

Great eye. I also like how you made the center portion brighter than surrounding area.   Posted: 11/30/2024 00:52:58
