Farmer's Field by Andrew Klein

July 2024 - Farmer's Field

About the Image(s)

Serendipity. I was leaving my daughter’s house and as I came out of the neighborhood I saw this through my windshield. I have been trying to discipline myself to always have a camera with me and this time I did, A Leica M11 with a 50mm f2 lens. Shot is at f11 and auto shutter speed. What is important to note that the camera has a 60 megapixel sensor. This allowed me to crop this to about half the original frame and retain excellent (30 MP is my guess) resolution. I bumped up the saturation and pulled back the contrast in the sky . This field has been visually interesting almost every time I pass by but this time was special and I hope I did it justice

Lovely image and really like the details in the sky. To my eyes, this image is mostly about the sky. The few trees adds good interest to this image.

At the risk of being pedantic, the horizon is not level. Was this done on purpose? I ask because I have a couple of images where I left the horizon off level as a way to add tension to the image. I don't think adding tension would work with this image as it, to me, seems somewhat tranquil.   Posted: 07/24/2024 20:35:22

The horizon seemed OK to me because this scene is on the top of a slight hill. But I think it would be better, as you suggested, leveling it out. Thanks for seeing this.   Posted: 07/24/2024 20:42:59
