Bald Eagle by Kathleen Colligan

October 2021 - Bald Eagle

About the Image(s)

I took this photo of a local Bald Eagle last week on one of my morning walks in Narrowsburg NY. ISO 100, 220mm, F4 1/1000 sec with my SonyRx10iv on continuous mode. The early morning lighting was perfect. I did not have to do much with it post processing but did use Topaz Sharpening. Part of the wing was close to the border so more border added to the top. Notice the federal band on the one talon.

This is a really beautiful shot of the bald eagle. Great sharpness overall, especially the detail in the bird's feathers.

The only suggestion I would make is to perhaps crop this image to bring the eagle in a little closer.   Posted: 10/07/2021 14:08:36

How lucky are you! This looks like a painting to me, and I can't think of a single thing to change. Great shot!   Posted: 10/07/2021 17:36:32

A classic shot. Great power. Lovely. My software allows me to put in some clouds in the background. That might add a bit more drama...especially clouds that are both white and grey.   Posted: 10/08/2021 11:13:13

I did put some clouds via Photoshop sky but think I overdid it. Some people on a FB group really slammed me. I have a calmer version lol but too large of file for here..   Posted: 10/08/2021 12:03:44

This is a beautiful image. Love everything about it. Great composition and technical and the space you added is not discernible and is just the right amount. There looks to be just a tad of softness in the foreground wing tips, but I think I am nitpicking with that comment. Very nice!

Regarding your comment about your FB group slamming you, just remember that they slammed Monet for his technique at first. I believe that art is what satisfies our soul so we need to be true to ourselves.   Posted: 10/08/2021 13:15:35

I agree. "slamming" you was in poor taste. Observations, comments, and thoughts that might add to the image are worthwhile, but this is a very great image and don't let anyone tell you otherwise   Posted: 10/08/2021 14:04:05
