I took this image through my kitchen window. I set up the stick on the bird feeder, and small birds tend to land on the stick either before or after landing on the bird feeder.
I used a Nikon D500 with Sigma 150-500mm lens ast Iso = l2800, 1/1600 sec and ’/6.3. Post-processing was in Lightroom Classic and Radiant Photo 2.
Is the bird sharp enough? Any thoughts on the white background l(snow)?

What a nice capture of this female cardinal! I love the pose. The feather colors and the tree perch are beautiful. The snowflakes on it are a nice touch. The white background makes the cardinal pop, but a softer white might feel more natural. Maybe add a bit more space in front of the cardinal. Cardinals are my favorite bird; this makes me love your image even more. Posted: 10/09/2026 21:19:05
