August 2026 - Fireworks Narrowsburg NY

About the Image(s)

My photo was taken with a tripod and my Sony A7iii (Tamron 50-300) at f/10, 1 sec, ISO 100, from my backyard on the PA side of the Delaware River. I tried several settings, and most were flops. This one shows the downtown with fireworks overhead. I realized too late, after the fireworks started, that the trees were blocking some of the views. The shots high in the sky turned out better than most. Lightroom basic adjustments, and not sure of the rest.

What a great hometown image. You nailed the fireworks, and the streetlight has a beautiful star, but what I love the most is the family in the lower right who are watching the display. Would it be worth considering cropping the image from the left just past the flagpole? You would still show the corner of the building, but put more of the emphasis on the rest. Just an idea...   Posted: 08/07/2026 12:23:24

oh my this is really delightful. You have captured the essence of the hometown celebration! I'm loving the colors, the forms and the details. Especially the people silhouetted by the flashes of light from the street lamp. For me the actual street light became to dominant so i edited out the bulb part of it to make it less eye cartching, keeping the flare of course! I also did a radial gradient on the people to lighten them up a touch. What a lovely image.   Posted: 08/07/2026 13:29:40

Thank you for the helpful suggestions. I was debating whether to erase that light, but your idea is perfect. I will have to figure out how to do the radial gradient next.

A lovely image, Kathleen, well taken and showing a wonderful slice of Americana! I like the suggestions from the others and have nothing to add beyond them.   Posted: 08/10/2026 11:09:23

A wonderful image. The people in the bottom right corner almost give it the feel of a Norman Rockwell painting. I might have been tempted to remove the red light also but I don't think it detracts from the image, it's just a tiny bit distracting. Overall, I love the 50's americana feel.   Posted: 08/14/2026 20:21:53
