About the Image(s)
I took this photo yesterday with my i-phone 15 using portrait mode . This huge ship is turning around at the mouth of the Milwaukee River, in front of our red lighthouse. Beyond the bulwark an even bigger ship waits.

Very interesting composition - it flies in the face of the typical. You've captured an authentic moment, with the ship's smoke leading your eye to the flock of geese(?), and the lighthouse giving scale to the ship. It looks cold and the steel railings emphasizes that.   Posted: 12/05/2025 22:32:51
I like the use of red to tie the whole composition together - the lighthouse, the railing in the foreground and the ship. The placement of a part on the lighthouse at the extreme edge of the frame causes an imbalance with the opposite side of the frame. There is too much empty space on the left for my liking. This is technically excellent with great exposure and sharpness throughout the frame. Nice job and welcome to the group!   Posted: 12/08/2025 13:15:09
This image has a lot of potential. It's a great scene, but the subject seems to be split between the ship and the lighthouse without a clear standout. It would be more appealing to me if either the lighthouse or the ship was clearly the focus, both are really nice. Welcome to the group!   Posted: 12/09/2025 00:47:21
